Which is "bigger"? A.) A Section, B.) Division or C.) State Championship? So what would you guess is recognized as the most likely candidate for Athlete of the Week? A.) A kid who hit 3 pointers in helping his team to a D II - Section championship?, B.) A kid who leads his team, by his individual accomplishments to a Div II championship and a State birth, or C.) An individual that advanced to the State Championship match to determine the best athlete at his weight, regardless of school size.
I know that it's all just a popularity contest and I try not to get worked up over it (heck I don't have time to sit and watch the auto-clicker run!), but I thought it worth my time to recognize the outstanding efforts of all of the candidates (they ALL did great things!) and point out that only ONE of them carries away the knowledge of knowing that he is better than every other competitor (regardless of the size of the school that they attend) at his sport, in the largest state of the United States, with only one exception. THAT is amazing, and the fact that others don't recognize it as such is a reflection of their ignorance.
