LOOMIS– Del Oro High’s tennis team picked up where it left off last season by opening up its 2018 campaign with a pair of impressive victories.

The Lady Eagles, the defending Sierra Foothill League champions who reached the section’s Division I finals, began their season with a 9-0 blanking of Roseville and an 8-1 drubbing of Bella Vista.

“We have some experience back this season,” said Del Oro coach Jen Isaac. “That’s always nice to have in any sport.”

In the win over Bella Vista, despite No. 1 singles player Ali Isaac losing a three-set tiebreaker, the Lady Eagles were solid the rest of the way dominating the Broncos.

Emma Dobson shined in the No. 2 spot for Del Oro as she produced a 6-1, 6-1 win. Also winning by the same 6-1, 6-1 margin was No. 3 singles player Abby Edwards.

At No. 4, Sophia Fusano notched a straight set 6-0, 6-0 triumph while Jacy Tooker (6-2, 6-1) and Arianna Brockman (6-1, 6-0) impressed, respectively, with wins at No. 5 and No. 6.

In doubles play, the No. 1 Del Oro duo of Elaina Hanson and Hailey Gallamore teamed for a 6-1, 6-2 decision over their Bronco foes. At No. 2, meanwhile, Jenna Howard and Ava Mosher responded with a 6-1, 6-2 win.
