USA Softball of Sacramento and Placer Valley Tourism will host the USA Softball Western National Championships to be held at Foskett Regional Park in Lincoln and Maidu Park in Roseville July 24-29.

More than 600 players will make up 16-under A and B divisions and an 18-under B division, all consisting of 38 teams. Teams from Northern and Southern California, and Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii and Georgia will be represented.

Opening ceremonies are at Maidu Park July 24, beginning at 8 p.m. A skills competition will be held 6-8 July 26, giving the girls a break and allowing them to showcase their running, hitting, throwing and pitching abilities.

"USA Softball of Sacramento has been privileged to host an incredible 32 National Championships between the Adult and Junior Olympic Programs since 1978 and it is always an honor to be a part of these prestigious tournaments," said Jeff Dubchansky, USASS Commissioner. "We are looking forward to hosting these Western Nationals and hope to see many softball fans out at the fields."

Pool play will be employed with a double-elimination format; with each team playing at least four games over the course of the tournament.
There is no charge for admission to the games and food vendors will be on site.

Foskett Park is located at 1911 Finney Way and Maidu Park is at 1550 Maidu Drive.
