Whitney fills the spring all-league rosters

Recognized as one of the premier schools in the Capital Valley Conference, the Whitney High spring sports programs again left an indelible mark of all-league selections, as did the programs of winter and fall.

This fall, the Wildcats will move to the Sierra Foothill League.

Below are the spring sports and CVC all-league selections.

Baseball – Hayden Erickson. Erickson also played for the large-school North team in the recent Optimist all-star games.

Golf – Will Phelan, Brandon Sterri, and Jared Tungol.

Softball – Makenzie Macfarlane and Mazie Macfarlane.

Swimming boys – First place: Kyle Parenti (3-meter dive) and Armando Cruz (100 butterfly).

Second place: Tucker Niles (200 free); Cade Wickwire, Ryan Walker, Ed Stefaneson and Niles (200 free relay).

Swimming girls – First place: Morgan Votava, Madilyn Sindlar, Kate Jara and Makeenna Parenti (200 medley relay); Votava (200 IM) and Verity Vogel-Rigler (500 free).

First place: Parenti, Votava, Morgan Choffin and Sindlar (200 free relay).

First place: Votava (100 back) and Sindlar (100 breast).

Second place: Parenti (50 free and 100 butterfly).

Sindlar will swim for the University of South Dakota and Parenti has signed to swim for the University of the Redlands.

Tennis boys – Andrew Duffey, Naveen Kang, Myles Macias and Andrew Nguyen.

Track boys – Andrew Franco (200m and 400m), Josh Kling (1600m), Adam O’Brien (pole vault), Dagne Buck (discus and shot put), Zachary Boroja (discus) and Ethan Dodge (3200m).

(4x100 relay) Joey Souto, Jaiden Love-Williams, Mark Clark and Franco.

(4x400 relay) Love-Williams, Julian Templeton, Zavier Beevers and Franco.

Franco will run for Stanford University next year and Dagne will throw for Concordia University of Nebraska in Seward, Calif.

Track girls – Rachel Payan (pole vault) and Abigail Scott (discus).

Second team: Isabel Simmons (pole vault) and Sydney Johnson (long jump).

Volleyball boys – Nico Saboonchi and Daniel Sharrah. Sharrah will play for Dominican University next season.
