The 49er United Hotshots girls 10-under soccer team had quite a season.
Last weekend, the Hotshots, a team made up of girls from the Auburn and surrounding foothills area, put the stamp down on their tremendous year by winning the Northern California State Cup championship with a 3-1 win over Union Sacramento FC.
The Hotshots’ overall record in the state cup tournament competition was an impressive 7-0. During the just completed season, the Hotshots also claimed the NorCal Premier Silver League title by going 9-0-1.
During their June–December season, the Hotshots registered two second-place tournament finishes and also a pair of third-place tourney efforts.
Hotshots coach Joe Fortin reflected on his team’s season by saying, “I feel like this is a exciting accomplishment by this group of girls. They have been dedicating their time since tryouts began last May.”
