Zebras’ fall season draws to a close with honors
The fall postseason is drawing to a close, as the Foothill Valley League and Fighting Zebras teams select their outstanding athletes for 2018.
Battling the not-so-favorable air-quality conditions, Lincoln High girls team MVP Destiny Everett earned an invite to the CIF State Meet Saturday running in the Sac-Joaquin Section Finals. Everett clocked in at 19:19.6 over the 5,000-meter Willow Hills course in Folsom, as the second of five Division II runners to qualify for state as an individual runner.
Co-MVP Saedy Williamson missed earning a spot at state placing 17th in the section finals. Kayla Baker was selected as the team’s Most Improved.
For the boys, Nathan Stewart took team MVP honors and Bryce Alma was named Most Improved.
Tuesday Epperson sewed up the Foothill Valley League’s MVP honors and was joined on the all-league team by Kaylee Hahn and Chelsea Wilson. Alyssa Phan was the team’s Most Improved player.
Ashley Anderson and Nina Holm joined the FVL’s all-league selections. Anderson was also the team MVP.
Denise Solis was named Most Improved by her teammates and Allison Adair Most Inspirational.
Morgan Colyer earned all-league honors and teammates Lisa Castro and Emilie Parker were given honorable mention.
Colyer was also the team’s Offensive MVP and Castro the team’s Defensive MVP. The Coaches Award went to Sara Martinez.
For the junior varsity, Andrea Ramirez and Hannah Wade earned the Team Choice awards. Freshman MVP honors went to both Trinity Markert and Paige Davis.
