It’s been a crazy competitive season so far for Lynn Wolking and Folsom High’s varsity girls’ basketball team.
The Bulldogs have won 13 of their 15 games, but it seems like most are close contests that have the Bulldogs playing to the very end of games. Only four of their 15 games have been decided by more than 10 points. Folsom played West Campus in a non-league game on Saturday and had to go to overtime before earning a 60-56 victory.
“It was another crazy game,” Wolking said. “They had us beat with the lead and the ball and the shot clock off, but couldn’t get the ball in bounds. We were in desperation mode. We drew up a play and Parker made the shot and one to put us up by two, and then West Campus scored at the buzzer to send it into overtime.”
In the extra session, Charity Gallegos scored all six of Folsom’s points, which included a layup sandwiched in between a pair of free throws, as she finished with 23 points and nine rebounds.
Parker Gordon scored 13 points and had six rebounds, while Beth Pettingill added 10 points and 13 rebounds in what Wolking called her best game of the season. Hanna Beckman scored eight points and had five rebounds, four steals and four assists.
“We need to play more consistently,” Wolking said.
Folsom’s next chance for that consistent game will be at Whitney (1-0, 11-7) on Wednesday with another road game at Granite Bay (0-1, 10-8) on Friday.
